You may have a lot of snow outside right now but spring is only a few months away. This would be a good time to make a list of the things you need to do once the warm weather arrives, such as your spring cleaning. One thing that will likely demand your attention is your patio. Below are some tips on how to get your patio ready when spring moves in.
Clean the Concrete Floor
The patio concrete flooring will be dirty form all the rain, snow, ice, etc. Before you start cleaning it, you first need to look over the concrete for any damage. If there are any cracks, go to a home improvement center and purchase some concrete crack filler to repair them. Follow the directions on the packaging on how to do this correctly. If there is a lot of damage, you should consider getting the patio repaired by a professional.
Next, clean the concrete with a 50/50 bleach and water mixture. Scrub areas that have stuck on debris. The bleach will help remove any stains if you have any.
Now it is time to use a pressure washer to clean the flooring. You do not want to use a hard pressure of water but instead a thin stream. Your pressure washer should have different nozzles, so you may have a nozzle that is specifically made to clean concrete. Consult the owner's manual to determine the best nozzle to use.
Use the pressure washer by slowly working your away across the entire patio flooring. Start at the upper end and work your way down. When you are finished cleaning with the pressure washer, let the concrete completely dry. For more information, contact local professionals like Ben's Cleaner Sales.
Decorate
Once the flooring is clean you need to decorate the patio. You can do this in many ways, such as by adding some landscape lighting, cleaning or purchasing new furniture, or adding new colorful cushions to the furniture.
If your patio sits in the sun and has no covering, an economic way to provide shade is to install a shade sail. This is not difficult to do and you may be able to install it yourself. This not only provides you with shade but also protects you from the sun's harmful ways.
Add some potted plants to the table as well as candles to keep the bugs away and your patio should be ready.
When you are finished with your patio, look around outside and see what else you can do to get ready for spring.
